Meet Writerscape’s Founder
Amy Stuart, by Joey Stuart
Amy Stuart is a writer, educator, coach and parent. She’s published four bestselling novels, including A Death at the Party in 2023, which held the #1 spot for over two months. In 2024, she co-authored Hall of Fame NHL player Mats Sundin’s acclaimed memoir, Home and Away. When it reached #1, she became one of the few Canadian writers to reach #1 on the bestseller lists in both fiction and non-fiction. Her novels have all been optioned for film and television.
Amy’s teaching career began in Toronto’s public high school system over twenty years ago. For years, she tried (sometimes poorly!) to balance writing, teacher and family responsibilities. The lessons she learned during this time paved the way for Writerscape. Her goal with Writerscape is to support writers of all kinds in building a fun and sustainable practice that works for them.
Amy has a Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education from OISE/UofT. In 2012, she graduated with high distinction from her Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at UBC.
A lifelong hockey player, Amy is one of the only female head coaches in the Greater Toronto Hockey League, the world’s largest competitive youth hockey organization. She lives in Toronto with her husband and their three sons.
